Nativis started out with the aim of developing effective skincare products based on a unique natural material called sericin. This material is a protein made up of 18 amino acids that holds together the cocoons that silkworms produce as part of their life cycle.
The benefits of sericin to the skin have been recognized for thousands of years. In the far east, bathing in hot water laden with cocoons was practiced because of the moisturizing and softening effects this brought to the skin.
We extract sericin from silkworm cocoons in a way that prevents damage to its structure thereby maintaining its high active nature in moisturising, repairing and maintaining skin, hair and nails. In addition, the silkworm is not harmed in our extraction process, as the silkworm is removed from the cocoon and allowed to continue it's life cycle prior to extraction of the sericin.
The active ingredient in all of our skincare and haircare products is derived from sericin. We call our active ingredient is Silk Hydra-Fix®
